Residents living in a neighbourhood in south Regina heard a popping noise Monday afternoon, and it turns out those were gun shots.

"I heard what sounded like gun shots, you know, and it sounded like a couple pops," explained Sam Flamont, who lives a few buildings down from the intersection of Parliament Avenue and Robinson Street in the Parliament Place area. "So, I kind of dipped my head out through my blinds and I didn't see too much but then I heard them again, like a couple seconds after, right."

Regina police confirm, around 2:43 p.m., officers were dispatched for reports of gun shots fired in that area.

So far, the investigation has revealed there were two vehicles involved and shots were fired, but it is not clear yet who fired at whom, and how many were fired.

Police were able to obtain a vehicle description, but could not locate it.

Officers searched the area and found evidence of gun shots - casings and bullet holes in a nearby vehicle and an apartment building window was damaged.

There are no reports of any injuries.

Flamont calls the incident "a little concerning".

Nearby schools were notified, but none were placed in secure-the-building mode.
