Green Zone listeners have been asking for weeks: who else might the Saskatchewan Roughriders try at quarterback?
Since trading away Darian Durant, the Roughriders have been scrambling to find a replacement. They added CFL veteran Kevin Glenn and signed NFL castoff Vince Young. Our listeners have been suggesting additional candidates. Some seemed comical at the time. Johnny Manziel. Michael Vick. Tim Tebow. Colin Kaepernick.
Kaepernick is out of their league. Tebow is pursuing a pro baseball career. But it turns out the Roughriders have been pursuing Manziel and Vick, according to reports in 3DownNation.com. Their character flaws rank little consideration from the Roughriders.
It all looks like the Roughriders, when they dumped Durant, had no plan in place to replace him. They truly are scrambling around, making high-profile moves that, at best, are longshots to succeed.
They should have kept Durant.
