Armed robbery in Saskatoon 7-Eleven

May 11, 2011 - 12:13pm

Around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday morning at Avenue P and 22nd Street a man walked into a 7-Eleven pulled out a weapon and demanded money from the clerk.

A female employee handed money over but it did not satisfy the man who started on an angry rampage, smashing display cases and store windows.

The store clerk fled to the back storage room and locked herself in before police arrived.

The man barricaded himself into the 7-Eleven and eventually police crisis negotiators were called in.

One person at the store Wednesday morning said police used tear gas before the suspect finally surrendered.

The suspect will appear in court on Wednesday.
