The Kootenay Ice were 5-2 winners over the Saskatoon Blades on Saturday night in Cranbrook, B.C.

The Ice broke open a 2-2 game by scoring three second period goals. Two came from the stick of Drew Czerwonka while Erik Benoit scored the other goal for the visitors in a period in which the Ice outshot the Blades 16-8. Dylen McKinlay and Brock Montgomery had the other Ice goals, while Darren Dietz and Dalton Thrower scored for Saskatoon.

The Ice are now just one point back of Saskatoon for fourth spot in the eastern conference. The Blades visit Regina on Monday night.
