The Hospitals of Regina Foundation launched its 27th Home Lottery Tuesday, in the home up for grabs as this year's top prize. The home, valued at $1.2 million, is located in the Creeks.
"It's on one of the very few walk-out lots," said Judy Davis, CEO of the foundation, "it has a beautiful view off the back."
The home lottery gets bigger and better every year, Davis says, because of the ongoing support from the community. The lottery helps the foundation provide financial support and purchase medical equipment needed for the hospitals in the Queen City. Since the first lotto in 1987, the foundation has raised $130 million for medical equipment, and enhancing education and research. Proceeds from the 2013 lottery will go towards medical imaging equipment, including a state-of-the-art CT scanner for the Pasqua Hospital.
The top prize is the 3,400 square foot home, along with a $10,000 cash prize. An early-bird prize will have one winner choosing between an Audi S5 Quattro Cabriolet or $75,000 cash. Other prizes include vehicles and vacations.
As usual, a 50/50 add on will be available with a home lottery ticket. The jackpot in 2012 reached over $579,000.
"This year, there's an extra-early bonus. So there's 30 $1,000 prizes, but you must buy your ticket before March 15th to be eligable."
The early-bird deadline is April 25, and Davis expects that's when the lottery will be sold out. If that is the case, the draw will be made on May 9.
Tickets can be purchased online for $100 each, a three pack for $250 and five packs for $375.
