The Occupy movement set out after a specific target this weekend, with a protest to be held at the Monsanto Research Farm Saturday evening, located just northeast of Saskatoon.

Organizer Daniel Johnson said the number one feature of Monsanto products is that it’s able to resist ultra-strong herbicide.

“That literally kills everything else that’s not a Monsanto product, and makes it so nothing but Monsanto project can grow in that area,” he said.

“That’s a pretty scary product.”

Johnson said about 30 people are expected to turn out, including members of the National Farmers Union, and those who participated in Occupy Saskatoon and Regina last year.

For currently unknown reasons the protest did not end up happening – more information to come soon.
