One of SaskPower's biggest unions has ratified a new two-year contract with the Crown.

The contract is retroactive to Jan. 1, 2010, and contains raises of 1.5 and two per cent to base wages in 2010 and 2011.

“We value the contributions IBEW members make to our business and we’re pleased to have reached an agreement,” Robert Watson, SaskPower president, said in a media release.

“We look forward to working together to ensure Saskatchewan has a reliable, affordable and environmentally sustainable supply of electricity.”

Neil Collins is the business manager of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 2067. In a media release, he said he is pleased with the agreement.

“Our bargaining committee felt the agreement was fair and in line with our members’ needs.”

About 1,400 of SaskPower’s full-time employees belong to the IBEW.
