Regina Milky Way staff have cool encounter with Toby Keith

It’s not every day a well-known country star makes a stop at the Milky Way in Regina but that is what happened Monday.
 
Ashley Israel works at the Milky Way. She admitted that she didn’t recognize Toby Keith at first but was pretty excited when she figured out who it was.
 
“I think I was kind of just star struck mostly,” said Israel. “You don’t get a lot of famous people coming to the Milky Way.”
 
It is certainly not the first time someone famous has made a stop at the little ice cream shop on Victoria Avenue. Canadian comedian Brent Butt has stopped by in the past. But this was Israel’s first encounter with a celebrity.
 
“Everybody starting freaking out and we looked through the side window cause he was standing on the other side of the fence. And then all the girls told me to go ask if we could get our picture taken and we did and he happily said yes.”
 
Israel said Keith was there with some of his friends and he ordered an ice cream cone.
 
“He was in a ball cap and had sun glasses on. Very casual clothing.”
 
Israel said he seemed very nice, just like any other person.
