The Regina Pats season is not off to a good start.
The team announced on Friday that overage defenceman and alternate captain Colby Williams is out indefinitely with an undisclosed injury. All the Pats would say about the injury is that Williams was hurt in July.
“There is no one more disappointed in this news than Colby,” said Head Coach and GM John Paddock in a news release.
“Our team is ready to support Colby through the rehab process and we look forward to his return to the ice.”
The Regina product is expected to return to the line-up at some point during the 2015-16 season but his timetable to return isn’t known at this point.
Williams played in 64 games last year registering a career high 11 goals and 30 assists. Williams added another three goals and five assists in the playoffs.
The Washington Capitals selected Williams in the fifth round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
The Pats open training camp at the Cooperators Centre on August 29.
