There have been hundreds of fraudulent calls in the city, where the callers claim taxes are owed and become aggressive about repayment.
In one case a victim was bullied into paying $40,000.
Police are asking anyone who has been a victim of fraud to contact them. If you receive a call from the fraudsters, police advise people to contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
