Photos capture extent of South Carolina flooding

South Carolina has been hit hard by flooding and residents are expecting a second round of water to pass through soon.

Tuesday was the first dry day since Sept. 24 in Columbia, South Carolina’s state capital. As they wait for more water to arrive, officials warn there could be new evacuations. The drinking water, power supply and roads and bridges need attention.

The water comes from what experts the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration called a “fire hose” of tropical moisture spun off by Hurricane Joaquin.
