Pats double up Oil Kings 4-2

The Regina Pats found themselves in the win column for the fourth time in five games on Friday night with a win in Edmonton.

The Pats continued their five game road trip with a 4-2 win over the Oil Kings at Rexall Place.

So far this season, the Pats have struggled at getting off to good starts. On Friday, they might have finally found the formula to make that happen with Rykr Cole giving them a 1-0 lead just 28 seconds into the game. Just over two minutes later, Brady Pouteau gave the Pats a 2-0 lead with the second goal of his WHL career. Dario Myer cut the Pats lead in half on the powerplay just before the halfway point of the period.

The score remained the same until Austin Wager restored the Pats two goal lead just past the 10 minute part of the second period with his second goal of the season.

The Oil Kings cut the lead back to one, again on the powerplay, with a goal from Colton Kehler. Sam Steel added an empty net goal with around 45 seconds to go to seal the deal for the Pats.

Pats goalie Tyler Brown stopped 41 of the 43 shots fired his way for his first goal of the year. Adam Brooks extended his point streak to five games with an assist. Wagner led the team with two points on the night adding an assist to his goal.

The Pats are back in action on Sunday against the HItmen in Calgary.

They return home on Oct. 25 to host the Prince Albert Raiders.
