Remember the Saskatchewan Roughriders?
It’s the team’s last home game of the year Saturday at Mosaic Stadium. With the success of the Toronto Blue Jays drawing in the attention of many sports fans and the Riders miserable 2-13 record, the team hasn’t been as top-of-mind as they normally are this time of year.
Still, that isn’t stopping some fans from tuning in.
“I’ll be watching in anticipation just to see what they’ve pulled together,” said this fan, fully realizing the green and white might feature a few unfamiliar players.
“I’m completely aware that we’re in the process of rebuilding and I’m thinking about next year but I still got their backs.”
He said as a fan, you have to stick with the team through the good and bad.
“They’ve brought in some other really good players, so maybe these new kids will be able to actually do something and even might impress us,” said fan Kyle Koshman.
“Anything’s possible but let’s focus on next year I think.”
The Riders won’t be Grey Cup winners this year, but other fans think it’s still important to get the win. While their record might not indicate it, the season hasn’t been as dismal for supporters of Saskatchewan.
“They’re a good team and when they’ve lost, they haven’t lost by much,” said Gladys Altwasser.
She believes the game will still be competitive considering some players may very well be playing for their spot on the roster for next year.
