Zack Evans’ family will be decked out in red and black as the Regina product looks for a Grey Cup win with Ottawa.
Terry Evans only had a few minutes to speak with his son following the Redblacks’ 35-28 win in the East final Sunday.
“I said, ‘great game.’ He just said ‘thanks, Dad’ and he didn’t have much time to talk, though. Obviously he had some celebrations at the other end there.”
It’s not Zack’s first time in a Grey Cup. He was a member of the Roughriders during the Green and White’s 2013 championship season. The defensive lineman was traded shortly afterwards in the CFL expansion draft.
Terry says it was hard to see his son dealt away from his home province, but says it seems to be working out well. Zack has seen a lot more field time, his father said while pointing to Zack’s 66-yard touchdown this season.
When it comes to the championship game, Terry says his son knows best.
“I really just let him play the game. He’s there, he’s playing it, he knows what he needs to do.”
And when it comes down to it, it’s all just a game.
“Go out and have fun.”
