The Regina Pats came through in the clutch with a key game against a team chasing them in the standings.
With the Medicine Hat Tigers trailing the Pats by just five points for the final playoff spot, there was a lot on the line with just 21 games left in the season.
The Pats flew out of the gate, opening up a 3-0 lead in the first 14 minutes of the game. Medicine Hat cut the lead to two near the end of the first period, but that was it for the Tigers scoring.
Tyler Brown stopped 40 of 41 shots in the victory for the Pats.
Adam Brooks continued his strong season with three assists, while the Pats had five different goal scorers in a 5-1 victory; Sean Richards, Austin Wagner, Lane Zablocki, Sam Steel and Sergey Zborovskiy.
The win put the Pats up seven points over Medicine Hat with the Prince George Cougars visiting the Brandt Centre on Saturday night.
