The Cole Sanford trade is starting to pay off for the Regina Pats.
After picking up three points in Saturday’s win over Brandon, Sanford picked up another trio of points in Monday’s shootout win over the Swift Current Broncos.
Sanford’s three assists were topped off with a shootout goal for the over-age winger in the Pats 4-3 win.
The Pats found themselves down 3-1 in the third period when Sanford got his second assist on the night, teaming up with Sam Steel to assist on Sean Richards’ third goal of the season.
Less than four minutes later Sanford got another assist, as Connor Hobbs tied the game on the power play. Tyler Brown helped shut things down the rest of the way as he had 29 saves for this second straight win.
Sanford and Adam Brooks scored in the shootout as Brown shut the door on both Bronco shooters.
February continues to be a strong month so far for the Regina Pats. At the halfway point they’ve won four of five including a shootout win in Swift Current.
The Pats are back on the road on Wednesday in Prince Albert before home games on Friday and Sunday of this week.
