Regina mother happy to give back to Telemiracle

Regina’s Jacqui Cameron is thrilled to be putting in a long day at this weekend’s Telemiracle, having personally been assisted by the funds raised by the telethon.

“I owe a lot to Telemiracle,” Cameron told the CJME Morning Show on Wednesday.

Cameron’s son Rylan was diagnosed with a seizure disorder when he was two years old. The condition required Rylan to have surgery in B.C.

“That required us to go for a pre-op appointment, and then surgical appointment, and then a follow-up appointment. And those were all in Vancouver.”

The foundation covered the cost of the trip – including accommodations and food – for Cameron, Rylan, and a support person. Cameron says the trips added up to roughly 40 days.

“They also bought (Rylan) an enclosed canopy bed that he sleeps in. And I don’t have to worry that he’s going to fall out and have a seizure.”

Now Cameron is giving back, being part of the team putting on Telemiracle 40 at the Conexus Arts Centre this weekend.

“I get to spend it with about 1,000 of my closest friends. All my family is Kin.”

Telemiracle has raised more than $111 million since it began. It kicks off Saturday at 8 p.m. and wraps up Sunday at 5 p.m.
