The Regina Pats fell to the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Friday night, in their first round WHL playoff series.
The Pats picked up several penalties, while the Hurricanes scored four powerplay goals, beating the pats 6-3.
Lethbridge picked up two goals in the first period, the first from Cory Millette, and the second by Brayden Burke – both in the power play.
The Pats’ Adam Brooks scored in the first period, with two assists in the second. It’s his first three-point playoff game.
Sam Steel assisted Brooks in the first, registering his first career playoff point.
The Pats tied up the game at the end of the second period thanks to goals from Austin Wagner and Connor Hobbs. Lethbridge pulled away in the third with goals by Pankewicz, and another each for Burke and Millette.
Three penalties were handed down to Pats players in each of the first and second periods, then seven penalties were handed to Regina players in the third, including 10 minutes to Cole Sanford for misconduct.
The Pats will try to turn things around Saturday night in the second game in the series.
