For the first time since the 1970s, there aren’t any Canadian teams in the NHL playoffs, but that may not stop Regina hockey fans from sitting down in front of the TV on Wednesday night.
Chad Crites is the manager at the Press Box sports bar. He said on Wednesday afternoon the restaurant was still expecting people to show up to watch hockey that night.
“Even though there aren’t the Canadian teams, there are a lot of Canadians on the rosters still,” said Crites.
“Especially if there are players from Regina as well, like the Ducks with Ryan Getzlaf.”
The Florida Panthers have the highest number of Canadians out of all the teams in the playoffs.
Crites said they run an NHL playoff fantasy league so he is expecting several people from that to show up.
