Another Sears building in Regina is closing its doors.
The Sears Outlet store on 7th Avenue will be closing on April 20, 2017. Ninety-eight people will lose their jobs, but Vincent Power with Sears Canada said the company is going to try to find jobs for the employees at other stores.
Power explained the store is closing because they don’t have as much stock now, and don’t need as much space. He said the company is consolidating and optimizing the space they have.
Darlene King will be sad to see the store go. She’s a real estate agent in Regina, and said she’s sent lots of people to the store.
“I’ve sent a lot of new home buyers over there to replace appliances that were in homes that they’ve purchased, and they needed a reasonable price.”
She said she thinks the community will really miss the store.
“I have buyers that are closing next week they’ll be alright, but it’s the buyers in the future that are going to be looking for reasonably priced appliances.”
Two other Sears buildings in Regina are already up for sale.
