New Saskatoon schools named after inspiring Canadians

Four new schools being built in Saskatoon have been named.

The Saskatoon Board of Education made the announcement at a meeting Tuesday night.

“Our board of trustees has chosen to honour four admirable individuals who have made incredible contributions to our community,” said Ray Morrison, board chair, in a news release the same day.

“They set an inspiring example for the students who will learn and grow in these new schools.”

The new names are:

• Sylvia Fedoruk School – Evergreen
• Ernest Lindner School – Hampton Village
• Colette Bourgonje School – Rosewood
• Chief Whitecap School – Stonebridge

Public consultations with people living in the neighbourhoods, written submissions and board research led to the names.

The P3 schools are set to be ready for the 2017-18 school year.
