Between them the Regina Pats and the Medicine Hat Tigers scored 13 goals in Saturday night’s game – but it was the Pats who came out victorious.
Lane Zablocki scored his first hat trick of the year in the match up that puts the Pats at 9-0-3 (the three stands for over time losses) and extends their winning streak to five games.
Austin Wagner also scored once and notched three assists in the game.
The team’s entered the first intermission tied up 2-2 before the scoring really took off in the second and third periods.
Medicine Hat started off the second period scoring, but the Pats scored two more courtesy of Zablocki and Dawson Leedahl, making the score 4-3 going into the third.
That’s when the Pats really turned on the heat with Austin Wagner, Filip Ahl, Adam Brooks and Zablocki once more all getting on the board.
The final score was 8-5.
The Pats are currently in second place in the WHL standings behind the 11-2-1 Prince George Cougars.
The team doesn’t play again until next Sunday in Brandt Centre where they’ll face the 3-5 Seattle Thunderbirds.
Game time is 4 pm.
