Sask. Rush aims to end playoff drought as training camp begins

The final weekend of training camp is set for Nov. 22-24 back in Saskatoon.
A health research project at the University of Regina received some funding from the federal government.
Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale was in Regina on behalf of Health Minister Jane Philpott to present a research grant to Dr. Mohan Babu.
Babu is an assistant professor at the U of R and his research will address the issue of bacteria mutating and becoming immune to current antibiotics.
“Bacteria is constantly evolving and any antibiotics treatments in the clinics is not working,” Babu said.
The research will try to find new treatments for bacterial infections and will work with the genes of the E. coli bacteria to find out how they react to antibiotics.
Goodale said this sort of issue is facing countries worldwide and this research will be beneficial to a lot of people.
The grant is worth $1,123,815 over five years from the Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR).
It is one of 491 projects funded in CIHR’s 2016 Project Grant competition.
