Pats squeak by Kootenay 5-4 in overtime

Riley Woods scored in overtime to give the Pats a 5-4 edge over the Kootenay Ice Tuesday night. 

While the Pats got on the board first with a goal from Jake Leschyshyn half way through the first period, they were on their heels for much of the game after.

The Ice scored three goals in the first five minutes of the second period and putting them up on the Pats 3-1. 

Fortunately for the Pats, Sam Steel came roaring back on the attack, scoring twice and tying the game up at three goals apiece heading into the second intermission. 

It looked like Regina might have wrapped it up when Adam Brooks scored in the third, but Vince Loschiavo ​forced overtime with a goal with nine minutes left in the game. 

That’s when Woods came in at 2:20 in the first intermission and buried his fourth goal of the season. He was helped Jake Leschyshyn and Sergey Zborovskiy. 

The Pats move to 20-2-4 on the season with a road record of 10-2-1. 

They currently sit number one in the WHL standings.
