After a Tuesday night game that saw 11 goals scored between the Wheat Kings and the Pats, it was goaltending that took centre stage in the Wednesday night rematch.
Both teams scored their regulation time goals in the first period with the goaltenders holding the line for the rest of the game. Pats goalie Tyler Brown faced 35 shots in the match up, whereas Logan Thompson faced 40.
The Pats got on the board first at 12:32 in the first when Nick Henry was fed from Adam Brooks and Chase Harrison.
Five minutes later the game was evened up with a goal from Brandon’s Ty Lewis who was assisted by Stelio Mattheos and Garrett Sambrook.
The teams went into the first intermission tied at one, and that score would hold through the second and third periods as well as through overtime.
It would take a shoot out to decide who was going to win Wednesday night’s game, and the Pats were denied by Thompson all three times. Tyler Coulter would get one by Brown for the 2-1 win.
The Pats are back in action on Friday against Prince Albert before returning home for an afternoon game Jan. 1.
