The Regina Pats have picked up a 19-year-old Saskatchewan-born forward from the Spokane Chiefs, the club announced today.
Wyatt Sloboshan of Vanscoy, Saskatchewan has joined the team in Regina, while Rykr Cole and Riley Woods will head west to the Spokane Chiefs.
Sloboshan was the former captain of the Saskatoon Blades before being traded to the Chiefs right before the Christmas break. Sloboshan did not report to his new team in Washington once the break was over. He had only played one game with Spokane.
Two days ago Chiefs general manager Scott Carter said the team was exploring its options “with Wyatt and the league.”
The option selected brings Sloboshan back to his home province.
“Sloboshan adds skill and leadership to our club,” said Pats head coach and general manager John Paddock said in a release. “He will be a valuable contributor on our team down the stretch.”
Paddock also wished Woods and Cole the best with their new team.
Sloboshan has arrived in Regina and will travel with the Pats to Medicine Hat for a game on Tuesday before returning home for two games at the Brandt Centre this weekend.
