The warmer weather this time of year may be a good excuse to get outside, but it doesn’t come without its potential hazards, especially in one Regina family’s case.
Marshall Pelletier said on Monday his wife and eight-month-old baby boy, Gabriel, were splashed profusely by a passing vehicle near the Lawson Aquatic Centre along Elphinstone Street. Pelletier tweeted out a photo of his splashed son laying in his wooden sleigh he was being pulled around in at the time of the incident.
He had salty, dirty water in his face and eyes because someone couldn’t be troubled to obey the law @ctvregina @SGItweets @reginapolice pic.twitter.com/C9i43RBV6q

“She was upset. She was really more concerned for Gabriel that he had this water splashed all over him. Our main concern is that it’s not in his mouth and nose,” said Pelletier.
“I was more disappointed that the person, for one, didn’t notice and for another thing, didn’t even stop or slow down. It was just purely reckless.”
He said his wife didn’t get a licence plate number, since her first priority was tending to her child. Gabriel quickly forgot about the episode, explained his dad, and is doing better now.
He’s doing much better. Thanks for the RTs @reginapolice @SGItweets pic.twitter.com/agzwMBx8JN

Those behind the wheel of a vehicle that splashes a pedestrian could be fined.
Pelletier just wants some drivers to be a little more aware of their surroundings.
“Just be careful. There’s a human element out there and this is I guess more of an extreme example than just having my pants ruined. This is a baby and this is potentially very dirty water, who knows what’s in that gutter.”
