A brand new home in Regina’s east end will have a lucky new owner.
The Hospitals of Regina Foundation launched their 2017 spring home lottery Wednesday and this year’s grand prize is a $1.4 million dollar home. This year also marks the 30th anniversary of the foundation and the lottery so an extra $30,000 will be given to the winner.
Since it began, the foundation has raised over $165 million with $35 million coming from the lotteries.
This year the goal is to raise $1.8 million, with a majority of the money going towards the trauma program to provide new equipment to help reduce response time for emergency care.
“The real important thing in trauma care is that vital first hour of management,” said David McCutcheon, vice president of physician and integrated health services with the Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region.
He said the relationship between the foundation and the hospitals is vital.
“We wouldn’t be where we are without the foundation and the donors that the foundation attracts.”
Dino Sophocleous, president of the foundation, said he enjoys talking to people whose lives have been affected by the foundation’s contributions.
“Meeting those families and hearing their stories and understanding that I and my staff and my team at the foundation have been the conduit for the community that has made those lives better is probably what I derive, personally, the most pleasure from.”
The home, located at 4345 Sage Dr. in the Creeks neighbourhood, is over 4,200 square feet. It has four bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms. It also features oak bulkheads throughout the entire house.
The showhome will be open to the public starting Feb. 25.
Tickets are available to be purchased online.
