A WHL rookie scored his first goal of the season as the Pats beat Swift Current 4-2 Wednesday night.
Seventeen-year-old Riley Krane netted his first in the second period, but not before the scoring had already gotten started in the first.
Scoring began when Bryan Lockner found the back of the neck on a pass from captain Adam Brooks less than two minutes into the third period.
The second goal of the game wouldn’t come until nearly fifteen minutes later. Swift Current got on the board with a score from Lane Robertson.
The teams remained tied at one going into the first intermission.
At 4:49 in the second period the Pats struck again, this time from Dawson Leedahl and assisted by Adam Brooks and Wyatt Sloboshan. After that Krane got the puck in, scoring his first of the season and putting the Pats up 3-1.
Peterson came back with a few minutes left in the third to try and make it interesting. He scored likely hoping he would spark the offense, but instead the Pats forward Wyatt Sloboshan scored an empty net insurance goal.
The Pats play a home and home series with the Moose Jaw Warriors starting on Friday.
