The first annual CFL Week is taking place in Regina this week.
More than 50 players are descending on the Queen City, as well as coaches, general managers, and alumni.
You’ll be able to get autographs and photo ops with your favourite players, try your hand at the combine skills competition and even play CFL trivia every night at the Fan Cave (beer gardens).
Here’s some handpicked highlights of this week’s event:
- You Make the Call – with CFL Head of Officiating Glen Johnson
When: Thursday, March 23, 7 – 8:30 p.m.
Where: Banner Hall/FanFest
Almost every fan is guilty of shouting “c’mon ref” at least once per game, but with the “You Make the Call” exhibit you’ll be able to find out just how hard it is to do. You’ll be taken through a series of real on-field scenarios and have to decide if you’ll throw that bright orange flag.
- Achieving Excellence Panel with former NFL and CFL Quarterback Warren Moon, Anthony Calvillo and Mike Reilly
When: Thursday March 23, 5 – 6 p.m.
Where: Banner Hall
Rod Smith is hosting a can’t miss panel featuring some of the league’s past and present greats. Moon, Calvillo and Reilly will discuss the achievements and obstacles the encountered in their journey to greatness. Moon will also be available for autographs after the event.
- Skills Centre
When: All Week
Where: Ag Ex Building
Think you have what it takes to be an elite passer or kicker in the CFL? Test your skills in the fanfest Skills Centre. You’ll be able to participate in the QB contest, the extra point challenge and the passing challenge.
Not far away there will be a spot for the kids to test their skills in at a fitness course made just for them.
- CFL Trivia in the Fan Cave
When: Tuesday to Friday, 5 p.m.
Where: Ag Ex Building
If Trivial Pursuit has a few too many science and arts questions for you, look no further than the Fan Cave (beer gardens) for a CFL fan’s perfect match. CFL Trivia will be hosted Tuesday to Friday beginning at 5:00 p.m.
Who’s the league’s leading passer?
Which CFL stadium holds the most fans?
Study up and head down to show off with a beer in your hand.
- Hall of Fame VIP Reception
When: Wednesday, March 22, 6 – 9 p.m.
Where: Mosaic Stadium
The Canadian Football Hall of Fame will announce their 2017 inductees at a special reception at Mosaic Stadium. The ticketed VIP reception allows attendees to hobnob with some of the league’s biggest stars, past and present, as well as a tour of new Mosaic Stadium.
