I don’t know how long Tim Tebow’s pro baseball career is going to last but I’m going to admire him for as long as he’s a member of the Columbia Fireflies.
Tebow is sticking to it after jumping into baseball last season and he’s still doing it despite being sent to the New York Mets Single-A affiliate, which is actually four steps down from the Major Leagues.
A place he will never reach. Michael Jordan started out in Double-A ball, two steps higher.
So yes, Tebow has a long way to go but he could have easily checked out when he was sent to the Columbia Fireflies of the Atlantic League.
Nobody would have thought twice if Tebow turned down the offer and continued his national collegiate football broadcast career.
But Tebow is clearly doing this for the love of the game and good on him. He’s playing more minor league ball than 99.9 per cent of anyone listening right now could ever say they have.
And when Tebow boards his first 8-hour bus trip and continues to play, my admiration will grow.
