A fire in Silverspring tore through one home, spread next door and forced an evacuation early Friday morning.
Around 1:45 a.m. firefighters were called to 1014 Carr Crescent and found a home engulfed in flames, with the fire stretching to the house beside it.
Because of the strong wind, five homes to the east and one to the west were evacuated as a precaution.
By about 2:30 a.m. the blaze was brought under control
No one was injured.
A fire investigator was on scene Friday morning looking for the cause of the fire and an estimate of the damage.
