Early bird gets the tickets as Pats Game 7 sells out

It didn’t take very long for available tickets to run out for the seventh and deciding game between the Regina Pats and Swift Current Broncos.

Dozens of fans lined up early Sunday morning to secure their seat.

Tyler Blenkin was first in line and said he arrived just after 10 a.m.

“I was actually planning on coming down earlier,” he said. “I slept in a little so I spent some Easter time with my kid and then I made the trip down.”

Blenkin said he missed out on getting tickets for Game 6 in Swift Current so he didn’t want to take any chances of missing Game 7. He added the season has been a nail-biter, but at the end of the day, he will always cheer on the Pats.

“I had a little bit of doubt being down 3-1 (in the playoff series) but I didn’t stop believing in them,” he said. “This is a team that’s shown so much adversity throughout the year and with the team that they have, it’s hard to doubt them.”

Vanessa Rohatyn, a Pats fan for years, drove from Wawota – 211 kilometres southeast of Regina – to get her hands on tickets.

“They’re going to win in Game 7,” she said. “We’re true Pats fans, so we’re excited to come and my daughter will be excited too.”

It’s been 45 years since the Pats played a Game 7 on home ice.

Jason Weibe said he can’t wait for the game. He wanted to purchase a ticket as a birthday gift for himself.

“I remember last year Game Six against Red Deer here and it was probably the best atmosphere I’ve been at a hockey game,” Weibe said. “I expect tomorrow to be even better and I can’t wait!”

Game 7 is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday at the Brandt Centre.

The Regina Pats are reminding fans to be cautious of where they buy their tickets as the organization is only affiliated with Ticketmaster.
