Regina bars booming from Pats playoff run

Pats fans unable to get tickets to the sold-out playoff games are taking to the local bars to watch their team in action.

Lancaster Taphouse co-owner Tim Rogers says it makes for a great second option.

“The great environment, crowd’s been into it, cheering and yelling, its been lots of fun,” Rogers said.

He added people have really been getting behind the team, bringing noise-makers and playoff towels to the taphouse to watch the game.

Kevin McCutcheon, general manager of Barley Mill, said he’s seen an increase of Pats fans at his bar as well during this year’s playoff run.

“The series against Calgary, it was ok for sure, but now that they’re playing Swift Current, they’ve picked up steam and it’s definitely busier this series for sure,” McCutcheon said.

Both also agree that the NHL Playoffs are being put on the back burner in the Queen City, at least for now.

“Saturday night, the Leafs were playing and the Flames were playing and we had the Leafs game on with sound until the Pats game came on and that was priority,” Rogers said.

Game 7 between the Pats and Broncos begins at 7 p.m.
