The Regina Pats now know their opponent for the next round of the playoffs.
The Lethbridge Hurricanes beat the Medicine Hat Tigers 5-4 in overtime, knocking off the second seeded team in the WHL in seven games.
That’s not to say the Hurricanes aren’t good, however. Lethbridge entered the post-season as the third place team in the conference.
Lethbridge went up on the Tigers 3-2 after winning game five, but the Tigers came back to win game six and force a game seven.
Hurricanes star forward, Tyler Wong, netted the game winner for his team.
The Pats and the Hurricanes met four times in the regular season with each team winning two games apiece.
The teams also met up in last year’s playoffs, with Regina knocking the Canes off in five games.
The series kicks off in Regina on Friday. Game two will also be played in the Queen City on Saturday before the Pats travel to Lethbridge for games three and four on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.
Tickets for the Regina games sold out ten minutes after they went on sale Tuesday.
