Organizers of Country Thunder Saskatchewan, formerly the Craven Country Jamboree, are giving 1.2 million reasons this festival will be one of the best.
Renovations have taken place on the grounds of the festival including the addition of 200,000 square feet of sod at the main concert bowl.
“With the rain out here (Wednesday) getting it nice and green, I’m thinking about people coming out and laying down some blankets and kicking back and enjoying a beverage and watching their favourite artist,” said Gerry Krochak, director of marketing and media relations with Country Thunder.
The festival is expecting another sellout of 23,500 people for this year’s event headlined by Toby Keith, Keith Urban and Blake Shelton.
Krochak said the festival experience is changing and they wanted to be able to adapt to it.
“I think a lot of fans that have been out here a lot know the site well but they’ve never seen it like this so we’re pretty happy.”
Another major change coming to this year’s festival is 79 brand new toilets and a renovated shower area.
“You can come in here and have an actual shower and get yourself cleaned up and ready for the next day of festivals,” Krochak said. “I never considered bathroom fixtures to be a huge news item but this is what people have asked for and this is what we’re giving them.”
The festival runs from July 13-16. Tickets can be purchased online.
