Despite being able to pull the game within a touchdown in the fourth quarter, the Regina Thunder would ultimately fall to the Winnipeg Rifles Saturday.
Backed by over 230 yards on the ground, the Rifles would win by a score of 35-22 at Investors Group Field.
The Thunder defense didn’t have an answer for Rifles runningback Michael Ritchott, who had 169 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns.
The Thunder also found success on the ground with Joel Senko getting 88 yards on the ground and Victor St. Pierre Laviolette also getting 66 yards on the ground.
The Loss meant that the Thunder will finish third in the Prairie Football Conference.
The next time the Thunder play, it will be in playoff action when they travel to Edmonton to take on the Huskies on Oct. 15.
