Playoffs!
Finally!
I think I speak for all involved, from Riders players to staff to fans to media to bar owners, when I say it is nice to have the team back in the playoffs.
After three and five-win seasons, we were all getting sick of talking about losing football and playing the ‘next year’ game in October. Now, November will have some drama.
When evaluating Chris Jones tenure as the VP/GM/Head Coach, only wins mattered and the team will likely finish above .500 and could still land in third in a very strong West Division.
The Riders have gone from being 9th in the league to 8th in the league with another jump this year.
The trend is definitely heading in the right direction and if you told me right now that the Riders could be playing in the Grey Cup, I don’t think that would necessarily be considered a surprise with the way they’ve played of late.
But if you do want to play ‘next year country’ right now, there is one major thing to do. Sign an extension for the head coach and general manager.
Jones has met or exceeded expectations this season and there is no reason not to sign him beyond the 2018 season.
