"Just because you're from a small town doesn't mean you can't go far."
For the first time since 2001, the University of Saskatchewan football team will miss the Canada West playoffs.
The Huskies lost 36-32 to the University of Manitoba in a must-win game for the playoff race.
After Alberta beat Calgary 53-3 Saturday afternoon, Saskatchewan needed to beat Manitoba by at least 37 points to earn the final playoff spot.
The U of S would take a 22-0 lead at one point in the game before the Bisons offense took over with 15 points in the third quarter and another 21 in the fourth.
After the loss, the Huskies finished their first season under head coach Scott Flory with a record of 2-6, finishing 5th out of six teams in Canada West.
