Environment Canada has forecasted temperatures to be above zero from Thursday to Monday.
If that holds, snow will melt and streets will become a slushy mess. Keeping vehicles nice and clean will likely prove to be difficult and visiting a car wash would seem to be inevitable.
“When you’re in the car wash business it’s all about the forecast,” said Kirby Kazeil, owner of SUDS Full Service Car Wash in Regina.
Based on the weather he anticipates to be hurting initially as the snow melts. When the temperatures cool down again it will be the exact opposite scenario as Kazeil expects business to pick up.
“Once the streets dry up everybody’s going to want to wash their car,” he said. “You’re going to see some pretty long lineups here right after that. We love the warm weather, but there will be an initial delay while the snow melts and then we’ll be at it so it’s good news for us.”
For his car wash, this weather scenario is almost the best it could be for business. Kazeil said the only thing better would be if Regina hadn’t received any snow and it was dry, and then a warm-up came.
He said people seem to love to wash their cars when the sun is shining and the weather is warm.
