Junior hockey fans in the province should be ecstatic as Regina, Saskatoon, Swift Current, Moose Jaw and Prince Albert made necessary trades at the deadline to make themselves better now, in some instances and in the future in others.
It was an arms race for the Pats, Warriors and Broncos and the race to the playoffs will be fun to watch.
It’s been awhile since four Saskatchewan teams all made the playoffs and were among the favourites to win the league.
With Regina hosting the Memorial Cup, there are decent odds you could see two Saskatchewan teams for the first time since the Swift Current Broncos beat the Saskatoon Blades in the final of the 1989 Memorial Cup.
The stretch run with 30 games left in the season is going to prove which teams made the best deals and which teams may regret selling the future for the right now.
But for the fans of Saskatchewan teams, it’s about time they have something to get excited about, as up until the Pats’ playoff run of last year, it was the Alberta teams or Brandon who were the ones to watch.
