Don Narcisse told the world he has stage one prostate cancer.
Hall of Fame wide receiver with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Caught a pass in every CFL game he played. Short guy. Great hands. Contagious smile. Hard worker. Grey Cup winner. Teased mercilessly about his frugality; may have the first dollar he ever earned. Memorable touchdown dance. And a never-quit attitude. That last part is going to serve him well as he begins radiation treatments.
After getting diagnosed with cancer — and fortunately it was an early diagnosis — Narcisse’s sister told him to share the news so he could persuade men to get checked by a doctor.
Narcisse’s determination and his loyalty to Saskatchewan made him a popular player. His diagnosis came in Houston, where he’s staying for treatments. His fans and friends have been sending him best wishes via social media. And it’s going to be great to see him, to show him how much we love him, when he returns to Saskatchewan.
