After coming back from a 4-0 deficit against the Saskatoon Blades on Friday night, the Pats weren’t quite able to do the same against Moose Jaw on Saturday.
It was the last meeting of the regular season between the Highway 1 rivals and the Pats had won the last two, but fell 3-2 Saturday evening.
The Warriors got off to a strong start in the first period with an unassisted goal by Tristin Langan which was followed up by Justin Almeida to give Moose Jaw a 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission.
Jayden Halbgewachs notched his league-leading 58th goal of the season with a backdoor feed to extend the Warriors lead to 3-0 in the second.
But Jesse Gabrielle, back from his two-game suspension, scored for the Pats late in the period to bring his team within one.
Robbie Holmes potted the only goal in the third after an impressive pass from Koby Morrisseau, but the Warriors were able to hang on for the win.
The Pats currently sit in third in the eastern division behind Moose Jaw and Swift Current with Brandon and Saskatoon nipping at their heels in the two wild-card card spots.
The Pats will continue their road games throughout this week and next as Regina prepares to host the Tim Horton’s Brier.
Regina will play the Hitmen in Calgary on Saturday at 8 p.m. Saskatchewan time. The team will not return to the Brandt Centre for a game until March 14.
