Bryan Colangelo could be the dumbest executive in sports history if the story of him using burner Twitter accounts is true.
The GM of the Philadelphia 76ers claims someone is out to get him after The Ringers broke a story, in great detail mind you, of Colangelo having secret anonymous Twitter accounts to criticize players, coaches, other general managers and giving a lot of praise to himself.
He even hinted at detailed info of injuries that only a coach, player and GM would know about. Why? Who knows?
His career is over if this is all true. His star player Joel Embiid is already questioning his GM’s trust. Colangelo may be fired anyway even if they don’t find out more info.
The former Raptors GM dilemma raises a definite question though about social media. Is it doing more harm than good?
I’ll always defend it as a medium to better engage your audience/customers etc. Because the only time it turns bad for people is when they’re just too stupid to realize what they do on social media could come back to haunt them.
Colangelo is learning the hard way.
