Douglas Provincial Park may be a site of more prairie than pine, but the provincial government is warning campers about a confirmed bear sighting.
The warning was issued Friday by Saskatchewan Provincial Parks for its core area including all campgrounds, walking trails and picnic sites.
Douglas Provincial Park is located in Elbow southeast of Lake Diefenbaker.
It’s warning campers to keep their sites as free of food and food supplies as possible–keep food, pots and pans, coolers and pet food in a vehicle or RV when not in use, when sleeping and when away from campsite.
Campsites should be kept free of garbage, bottles and cans.
It’s also important not to leave pets unattended or unleashed.
Anyone who sees a bear should phone Park Watch at 1-800-667-1788.
