It appears NFL commentators have forgotten what the point of NFL preseason games are.
There are so many things being written about the preseason about its lack of entertainment value and the reduction of starters playing, that they clearly forget NFL preseason isn’t about entertainment or putting the best players on the field.
It’s for NFL teams to decide who the other 31 players on the roster are going to be as they’ve already sorted out, for the most part the starting 22.
If you want to reduce pre-season games to two or three, fine. But I don’t think there is any way the league expands the regular season because the players union will say it further risks injury, which it does.
But the NFL preseason, like any league’s preseason is just that… preseason.
Nobody should really care nor criticize a coach for protecting his starting quarterback and running backs by limited their snaps.
Do you know who should be most upset? The fans who should get in for free to watch these games.
