A 21-year-old man who was severely injured in a shooting in Regina’s south end Tuesday night has died.
Police were called out around 10:30 p.m. to respond to a report of gunfire on Sinton Avenue in the South Lakeview neighbourhood.
Officers found a man with severe life-threatening injuries and he was taken to the hospital. Police were informed at 6 a.m. Wednesday that he had died overnight. While police said he was injured when a gun went off, they did not clarify if he had been shot.
Residents in the area said the neighbourhood is a quiet one, with nothing like this happening there before.
One man said his son was in the backyard and heard two pops and then a man screaming for help. He said his son also heard a car speed off.
One woman said she was watching television when she saw a flash and soon police were at the scene.
There is no word on potential charges at this stage, but as of early Wednesday, police said they were still looking for suspects.
Police are not identifying the 21-year-old victim publicly at this stage in the investigation, but his family has been notified.
The coroner has now launched a death investigation along with the police to determine the exact circumstances of the man’s death.
