The search for a missing 93-year-old Regina man has come to a sad end.
An emergency alert message was issued over the weekend through the SaskAlert app, asking the public to look out for Raul Burchi, who was missing for a week and considered vulnerable. The alert was cancelled late Sunday.
Regina police issued an update Monday morning explaining Burchi was found dead in a vehicle northeast of Montmarte Sunday at 4:15 p.m. Once the coroner confirmed his identity, they notified family. He had been missing since Dec. 9, believed to be driving a white Subaru.
Relatives posted the heartbreaking news on social media Sunday night.
Kirsten Burchi wrote on Facebook. “Our Nonno (Raul Burchi) has been found. We are heartbroken to say that he has passed away. We are overwhelmed by the amount of support we have received from the community. Thank you.”
