Less than a week after a worker was seriously injured at the Evraz steel mill, 980 CJME has learned about another injury.
Last Wednesday, an Evraz employee reportedly lost an arm in the facility’s rolling mill.
An employee was injured in a separate incident over the weekend. He was transported to hospital.
The company confirmed that the injury happened on Saturday at about 11 p.m.
Patrick Waldron, who’s with Evraz, said it happened while the employee was operating a piece of equipment.
“As with any lost-time injury or workplace accident, the circumstances of this incident are being thoroughly investigated and reviewed,” he said.
The union representing employees at Evraz, United Steelworkers 5890, said it’s always concerned over the safety of its members, wanting them to return home the same way they came to work.
