Even though she saw it with her own eyes, Tricia Kessler admits she’s still in shock.
The mother of two rushed home from work Thursday afternoon after her husband called to tell her their family home — the one they’ve lived in for 15 years — was on fire.
He said ‘come home’ so I just came home, my friends drove me home, and I just saw the house on fire,” Kessler said, her voice cracking. “I’m just so grateful that no one was inside, we don’t have any pets. My husband wasn’t inside, the kids weren’t inside so we’re just grateful for that.”
At first, Kessler wasn’t even able to get down to her home with all the trucks blocking things off. That’s when it dawned on her how bad it was.
“I knew it was pretty big but when I saw it – you just don’t believe it.”
“It’s our family home. It’s where our kids came (home) to and it’s what they know as home so I’m just worried about how the kids are going to do,” she said.
Kessler noted they had just done extensive renovations to their home including the basement, the bathroom and the kitchen.
“We have insurance so that’s good. We have family and friends that we can live with but we don’t have any clothes — we don’t have anything.”
At least four fire trucks and a dozen firefighters were on scene putting out the flames.
“I’m honestly still in shock, I just don’t believe it,” Kessler said.
